UU WITNESS

Our work to build the world we dream about begins at home, among our own people. We witness to one another every week in church. We come to church to return agian to the home of our deepest values, our truest selves, the home of our souls. Corporate worship is UU witness. Our work to build cross-cultural competency and multicultural community is UU witness. The work we do in groups to bring us home to our deepest values is witness work.

Commit2Respond

I was one of the organizers of the Commit2Respond to climate change month of action for climate justice last year. The month, which began on World Water Day and culminated on Earth Day, focused on spiritual reflection, activities to deepen our connections with each other and the Earth, and the development of participants’ commitments to shift to a low carbon future, advance human rights, and grow the climate justice movement. Because of my involvement with Commit2Respond and the UU Young Adults for Climate Justice, I spoke about climate justice at General Assembly in Portland with Terasa Cooley, the Vice President of the UUA. That video is posted on my home page here. The messages I co-wrote; -edited; and -curated with the team I led are all available beginning here. The first message our team sent out introducing the project and explaining its reasing is here.

UU Young Adults for  Climate Justice

In 2013, I founded UU Young Adults for Climate Justice, which now has over 375 members nationally. YACJ aims to work together for a socially just, resilient, and sustainable future, particularly through being a force for climate justice within Unitarian Universalsim. This summer, I was one of the trainers at a retreat for UU YACJ activists (pictured left), at which I led worship and spiritual practices. We also held a worship service at General Assembly in Porltand that I led.
